During her PhD Shai focused on the MRI measurement of white matter structure, specifically the g-ratio, and its biophysical relationship with signal conduction. Shai’s work examined variation in white matter structure and function with age, and as a result of multiple sclerosis. 
Shai’s postdoctoral research is done in Columbia University with prof. Daphna Shohmy.
