I did my 1st and 2nd degree from Calcutta University in Human Physiology and Genetics respectively. After which I joined Dr. N.R. Jana’s lab at the National Brain Research Centre in Gurgaon, India. At his lab, I was a part of multiple projects that broadly involved characterizing the role of E3-ubiquitin ligases in the pathophysiology of myoclonic epilepsy and Angelman Syndrome. In 2013, I moved to the Hebrew University to pursue my doctoral studies under the guidance of Dr. Ami Citri. My doctoral work broadly encompasses studying the cellular and neural circuit mechanisms of plasticity that drive adaptive behaviors. Using tools for mRNA analysis, I have examined how gene expression patterns are structured spatiotemporally for a diverse set of pharmacologically induced and naturalistic behaviors. My work has led to the description of unique region-specific gene expression signatures that encode salient behavioral experiences. Presently, I am utilizing these molecular correlates to identify novel neural circuit mechanisms that underlie maladaptive plasticity of chronic neuropsychiatric disorders like addiction.
