“Art and Brain Week” – a unique collaboration between the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) at the Hebrew University and the Jerusalem Cinematheque will take place as part of the international “Brain Awareness Week”.
The purpose of the “Brain Awareness Week”, marked annually in March, is to raise public awareness to the importance of brain research and present research advances in the field. ELSC’s “Art and Brain Week” promotes this goal while strengthening the relationship between community and academia.
The 10th “Art and brain week” will take place on March 21- 28, 2020. During the week a special scientific event will be held every evening at the Jerusalem Cinematheque, Goodman Building, HaMiffal and first station in Jerusalem which will include a lecture by a leading scientist followed by a movie or cultural content related to the topic.
Among the many events during the week, there will be a festive pre-opening event, on Saturday, 21.3.2020 at HaMiffal – Temporary Art and Cultural a blowing Pub Quiz about art, brain and what’s in between. On Sunday, 22.3.20, there will be an opening lecture on brain and soul in the mirror of medicine. “The Farewell” (pre-premiere). On Monday, 23.3.20, Prof. Merav Ahishar will give a lecture on friendship, parenting and autism, followed by a stand-up show by entertainer Tal Friedman “What Have I Learned from my Daughter?” At the end of the evening, there will be a special summary between Prof. Ahishar and Tal Friedman. On Tuesday, 24.3.20, there will be a special event on excellence in sports and mentality with the participation of Shahar Peer, Prof. Ilana Nisky and journalist Uriel Daskel. On Wednesday, 25.3.20, Prof. Anat Maril will give a lecture on the creation of memories followed by a pre-premiere screening of the film “La belle époque” with the participation of the film’s director Nicola Bados. On Thursday, 26.3.20, Art and Brain celebrates a decade of the week with a celebratory dance event at the Goodman Building for Neuroscience ahead of sunset. In the evening, there will be a lecture by Prof. Yoram Yovell – on quarrels and relationships. On Friday, 27.3.20 in the morning, a guided mindfulness practice will be held at the first station in Jerusalem, and in the evening, an event “Friday at Ten” will be held at the Jerusalem Cinematheque at 22:00 (Entrance – 10 Shekels, Beer – 10 Shekels, Popcorn – 10 Shekels) in which Doron Fishler will host four young brain researchers to an evening of science, humor and cinema. This week will be closed on Saturday, 28.3.20, with an event aimed at young audiences (7-14), which combines a lecture on fear and the film “The Adams Family” You will want brain and empathy and the movie ” Won’t you be my Neighbor?,?” Will be screened.
In addition, starting March 1, the Cinematheque will present a unique exhibition, “Composition of Research”, Ten posters designed by Tamar Kalif, depicting a series of groundbreaking studies conducted at the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences at the Hebrew University during the past decade.
Every evening, before the lecture and film, different laboratories from the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences will present their latest discoveries in the field of brain research. These presentations in the Cinematheque lobby will be presented to the public by ELSC’s promising young scientists.

“שבוע אמנות ומוח“ הינו שיתוף פעולה ייחודי ויוצא דופן בין מרכז אדמונד ולילי ספרא למדעי המוח באוניברסיטה העברית לבין סינמטק ירושלים המתקיים במסגרת “שבוע המודעות למוח” העולמי.
מטרתו של “שבוע המודעות למוח”, המצוין מדי שנה בחודש מרץ, היא לעורר את המודעות הציבורית לחשיבות חקר המוח ולהציג את ההתקדמות המחקרית בתחום. פרויקט “שבוע אמנות ומוח” מקדם מטרה זו תוך חיזוק הקשר בין הקהילה לאקדמיה.
זו השנה העשירית שבה יתקיים אירוע עתיר קהל זה בין התאריכים 21 עד ה-28 במרץ 2020. במהלך “שבוע אמנות ומוח” יתקיים מדי ערב אירוע מדעי לקהל הרחב בסינמטק ירושלים, במפעל, בבניין גודמן למדעי המוח ובמתחם התחנה. אירועים אלו יכללו הרצאות מפי מיטב מדעני המוח בתחומים הנמצאים בחוד החנית של המחקר, ויוקרנו סרטים המצויים בדיאלוג מפרה עם נושאי ההרצאות.
במהלך השבוע, תתקיימנה הרצאות רבות. בין האירועים: במוצאי שבת ה21.3.20 יתקיים אירוע טרום הפתיחה – משחק מוח נושא פרסים על אמנות, מוח ומה שבניהם במרכז התרבות ‘המפעל’ בירושלים ביום ראשון, 22.3.20, יתקיים אירוע הפתיחה תינתן הרצאה על מוח ונפש בראי הרפואה ולאחריה יוקרן הסרט “הפרידה” (טרום בכורה). ביום שני, 23.3.20, פרופ’ מרב אחישר תעביר הרצאה על חברות, הורות ואוטיזם ולאחריה מופע הסטנדאפ של הבדרן טל פרידמן “מה למדתי מהבת שלי?” בסיום הערב יתקיים סיכום מיוחד בין פרופ’ אחישר לטל פרידמן. ביום שלישי, 24.3.20, יתקיים אירוע מיוחד על מצויינות בספורט ומנטליות בהשתתפות שחר פאר, פרופ’ אילנה ניסקי והעיתונאי אוריאל דסקל. ביום רביעי, 25.3.20, פרופ’ ענת מריל תעביר הרצאה על יצירת זכרונות ולאחריו הקרנת טרום בכורה של הסרט “התקופה היפה בחיי” בהשתתפות במאי הסרט ניקולא בדוס. ביום חמישי, 26.3.20, חוגגים עשור לשבוע אמנות ומוח באירוע מחול חגיגי בבניין גודמן למדעי המוח לקראת השקיעה. בשעות הערב תתקיים הרצאה של פרופ’ יורם יובל – על מריבות וזוגיות. ביום שישי, .27.3,20 בשעות הבוקר יתקיים במתחם התחנה בירושלים תרגול מיינדפולנס מונחה ובערב ייערך אירוע “שישי בעשר”, בשעה 22:00 (כניסה – 10 ש”ח, בירה – 10 ש”ח, פופקורן – 10 ש”ח) שבו יארח דורון פישלר ארבע חוקרות מוח צעירות לערב של מדע, הומור וקולנוע. השבוע ייחתם ביום שבת, 28.3.20, באירוע המיועד לקהל הצעיר (7-14), המשלב הרצאה על פחד והסרט “משפחת אדאמס” ובערב אירוע ד”ר ענת פרי תרצה על מוח ואמפתיה ויוקרן הסרט “אולי תהיה השכן שלי?”.
בנוסף, החל מה-1 במרץ תוצג בסינמטק תערוכה ייחודית, “קומפוזיציה של מחקר “, עשר כרזות מאוירות פרי יצירתה של תמר כליף, המתארים שורה של מחקרים פורצי דרך שנערכו במרכז אדמונד ולילי ספרא למדעי המוח באוניברסיטה העברית בעשור האחרון.
בכל ערב, לפני ההרצאה והסרט יציגו באכסדרת הסינמטק מעבדות שונות ממרכז אדמונד ולילי ספרא למדעי המוח תערוכה מתחלפת שבה יוצגו המחקרים העדכניים ביותר בתחום חקר המוח. תערוכה זו תלווה בהסברים מפי מדענים צעירים אשר לומדים וחוקרים במרכז.
