Does bigger mean better? Intersubject variability in human brain anatomy
Human brains differ with respect to size, shape, folding pattern and many other parameters. Many past attempts to relate these parameters to cognitive function and ability have not successful. An understanding of the association between brain structure and function, however, is one of the most relevant and exciting neuroscientific questions. How this question can be approached will be illustrated by combining recent neuroanatomical mapping data and functional imaging results.
