Investigating the neural dynamics of creative thinking

The human mind can be extremely flexible as we solve problems and create new ideas. How could we possibly study the complex multiple cognitive capacities that support such flexibility? More generally, how can we study the complex cognitive and neural processes and dynamics that give rise to higher-level cognition such as creative thinking? The application of network science to study neural structures and functions have revolutionized how we are studying cognitive neuroscience, enabling elucidating the neural mechnaisms related to complex human behavior. I will present a series of studies that demonstrate the strengthn of network neuroscience research and its contribution to elucidating how the brain realizes creativity. Specifically, I will focus on studying the neural dynamics of creativity, via anatomical and functional brain research.
