What sort of information is encoded into the neurotransmitter dynamics during and after learning, which is not evident from more conventional fMRI recordings? I will present some of our recent work on using magnetic resonance spectroscopy to study the dynamics of neurotransmitters in a few motor and reinforcement learning paradigms in healthy volunteers. Time permitting, I will also talk about our ongoing work on using some of our recent methods to  study a population of mild-cognitively impaired and at-risk patients for Alzheimer’s Disease.
