ELSC congratulates Johannes Niediek, PhD, for being awarded the Shimon Peres Postdoctoral Fellowship for 2020.
Johannes Niediek, PhD, studied mathematics and physics at the University of Bonn, Germany. He completed his doctoral studies in neuroscience at the Department of Epileptology at the University of Bonn, using recordings from individual neurons in the brains of epilepsy patients to study the formation of memories.
At ELSC, he works as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Israel Nelken. He uses tools from information theory to describe and model how rats learn to succeed in complex tasks in naturalistic environments.
