PhD Student

Hagit performed her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Psychobiology at the Haifa university and is currently finishing her PhD in neurobiology.

Main research interest:

Targeting of charged cytotoxic compounds selectively into tumor cells via TRP channels. More specifically, her aim is to develop a method for targeting cancer cells by applying a compound that activates and opens a large-pore cationic channel receptor and allows the entry of positively-charged compounds, which exert a cytotoxic effect, by modulating an intracellular signal transduction or metabolism pathway. The effect occurs only if the agent enters the cells via the channels. This leads to facilitated entry of the compound into cancer cells specifically and therefore potentiates the effect of the drug and minimizes adverse effects on non-cancer cells.
